Write for Us.
We publish practical articles from people who do the work they write about. Here’s what we’re looking for and how to pitch.

What we publish
We publish practical articles that help readers make a decision or get something done. We’re most interested in:
- Business: starting, running and growing a small business, marketing, hiring and operations.
- Money: budgeting, saving, borrowing and everyday financial decisions.
- Home improvement: repairs, renovation, maintenance and choosing tradespeople.
- Technology: software, devices and online tools explained for non-specialists.
- Health: everyday wellbeing, written carefully and backed by reliable sources.
- Shopping and lifestyle: honest buying guides and comparisons.
What makes a good article
- Experience. You have done, built, fixed or advised on what you’re writing about, and it shows.
- A specific reader. “How to price your first freelance project” beats “Tips for freelancers”.
- Plain language. Short sentences, everyday words, and an explanation for any term a newcomer wouldn’t know.
- Evidence. Link to the source of every statistic, rule or claim, preferably the original.
- Original. Not published anywhere else, including your own site.
Most articles are between 1,200 and 2,500 words. Write as long as the topic needs and no longer.
Links and sponsorship
Links should help the reader. We remove links that don’t, and we don’t publish articles written mainly to place links. If you’ve been paid to write about a product or company, or you have a business interest in it, tell us when you pitch. Paid placements are published as sponsored content and labelled.
How to pitch
Send your pitch through our contact form with “Story pitch” selected, or email [email protected] with “Pitch” in the subject line. Include:
- a working headline;
- three to five bullet points covering what the article will say;
- why you are the right person to write it;
- links to one or two things you’ve written before.
What happens next
We read every pitch. If it’s a fit, we’ll reply with next steps and a deadline. If you haven’t heard from us within two weeks, the idea isn’t right for us this time, and you’re free to pitch it elsewhere.
Once you send a draft, we edit it for clarity, accuracy, length and house style, and we’ll ask you about any change that alters what you’re saying. Published articles carry your name and a short bio. Our terms of use explain the rights you give us when you submit.
Common questions
Can I send an article I’ve already written?
Yes. Send the full draft instead of an outline, along with the other details listed above.
Can I pitch more than one idea?
Yes, up to three in one message. We’ll tell you which one fits best.
Can I republish my article after it appears on Voomplaa?
Ask us first. We usually agree once it has been live for a while, as long as the republished version links back to the original.
